We know we’re not supposed to cheer for Ursula, but Rebel Wilson was pitch perfect as the tentacled antagonist.

The menacing but side splittingly funny Wilson sported a huge blonde wig and glittery black ball gown as she rebelled in the role of the evil sea witch.

The comedian, actress and writer is an advocate for body positivity and she owned the stage whilst she sang her solo ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’.

The overall production of The Little Mermaid was stripped back but a full 71-piece orchestra and all-star cast carried the show which took place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The cast of the live show also included Sara Bareilles as Ariel, Darren Criss as Prince Eric, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, John Stamos as Chef Louis, and Norm Lewis as King Triton. The star-studded cast was backed by a live chorus and a 71-piece orchestra.

Though “The Little Mermaid” had a short run as a Broadway musical in 2008-09, there are rumors that Disney is contemplating a live-action feature film.

Working Title and Universal are collaborating on the potential reboot which would join other remakes such Cinderella, Jungle Book and Maleficent following their recent success.

Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet we are able to look forward to the remake of Beauty and The Beast, starring Emma Watson, which is due to be released in March next year.
