Responding “you too” when someone wishes you well on something is a response that comes so naturally to just about all of us. But – have you ever accidentally “you too-ed” a waiter telling you to enjoy your meal? Well, South African content creator Liam Stoffberg took this classic awkward moment to a whole new level of hilarious!

Cape Town, South Africa (09 April 2025) – You know how when someone wishes you a good day or safe travels, and without even thinking about it, you instantly respond “You too”?

Well, that’s exactly what the fun trend seen on platforms like Instagram and TikTok revolves around – the awkwardness of saying “you too” as a response to someone and is often depicted in humorous or relatable scenarios.

Giving us the giggles was Liam Stoffberg, who posted a cute video of his interaction with a waiter at a sushi bar.

In the clip, Liam is seen receiving his lunch order and thanking the waiter who responds by telling him to enjoy his food, and of course, Liam responds: “You too” setting in motion an unexpected lunch date between the two of them as they share the meal and some good laughs in between.

When it was time for the waiter to get back to work, Liam wished him a good shift, and as you guessed it, the waiter also awkwardly said: “You too”. The two then hilariously got to work as Liam helped his new friend around the kitchen and with his waiter duties.

All the awkwardness aside, there’s no denying that these two had the best time together, LOL.

“When you accidentally reply saying “You too”,” Liam captioned the video.

Not only is the video so South African, but it is also such a great take on how, as a people, it is so easy for us to wish another person well without second thought.

Thanks for the laugh, Liam!
