Sindy and Roger are a couple on the hit show My Kitchen Rules, they are on the New Zealand addition but are adding a South African twist to the show.

Sindy and Roger are a Kiwi/South African couple who will be sharing their love of food and each other on the New Zealand version of My Kitchen Rules.

From New Zealand to Australia, many South Africans have made the move over to start new lives. This is how Sindy and Roger met and started their lives together, embracing both their heritages. They live in Papamoa.

The couple started a Facebook page, on which they celebrate both their cultures and their hybrid “afrokiwi” cooking style. They even have tips on celebrations, such as how they celebrate Phuza Thursday in their home.

“Say (poo-zah) yes! Today is Phuza Thursday people! ‘Phuza’ is the traditional African Zulu word for drink. It is the common act of having a mini weekend during the week, usually, a Thursday celebrated by South Africans. So Happy Phuza Thursday, and hang in there it’s only one more day to go until the weekend. Cheers!”

As part of their cooking style, they plan to cook some of their favourite family recipes that combine delicious South African classics and well-known New Zealand classics.

As the show is currently still being filmed and aired, their recipes will slowly be revealed over the coming weeks. You can see their Kiwi/South African fusion restaurant below.
