Azishe (Burn it up)… just make sure it’s higher grade!

Global (20 September 2018) – A lot of people are saying “Azishe”…

In the wake of South Africa’s hallmark ruling legalizing the private use of marijuana, an enthused social media user created an ad claiming to be from Nando’s. The ad went on to do the rounds on social media … but yeah, it’s a fake.

In the last couple of years, it’s become a norm for social media users to creatively make very clever fake adverts using Nando’s brand, and usually, Nando’s don’t get involved. They appreciate that fans of the brand use it to create clever fake ads.

But Nando’s have clapped back and went live with their own ‘higher grade’ response to the legalisation of marijuana in South Africa.

“While Nando’s appreciates the enthusiasm of fans who create ads in support of the brand, like their delicious PERi-PERi chicken, you’ve got to make sure its Fired Up!”

They posted the tweet yesterday, filled with clever puns. We’ve translated it below:

Baningi abazothi “Azishe”. Just make sure it’s higher grade…
