Nando’s is getting fired up again, this time with their farewell message to Mugabe.
Nando’s is always on top when it comes to advertising, their adverts are always a little tongue and cheek and sometimes down right to the point. They have always spoken out politically too so it’s no surprise that they have posted a little message to the ex-President of Zimbabwe who has just resigned (or kinda fired).
Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe resigned as president on Tuesday after 37 years in power, as parliament began impeachment proceedings against him.
The 93-year-old had clung on for a week after an army takeover and expulsion from his own ruling ZANU-PF party, but resigned shortly after parliament began an impeachment process seen as the only legal way to force him out.
“My decision to resign is voluntary on my part and arises from my concern for the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe and my desire for a smooth, non-violent transfer of power,” said Mugabe in his letter which was read out in parliament, sparking cheers and dancing.
Wild celebrations broke out at a joint sitting of parliament when Speaker Jacob Mudenda announced Mugabe’s resignation and suspended the impeachment procedure.
And Nando’s joined their celebrations.
Their message was simple and to the point. All it said was: Thats a wrap. Farewell to the king of all take-away. And thousands of South Africans have shared their messages with their followers.
