South African Comedian

A South African Comedian stood at the end of a grocery till stealing shoppers paid for products, literally eating their food… to prove a point.

Picture this. It’s a Friday morning. You’re standing in line at a Spar checkout in Constantia with your weekend groceries. It’s January, so of course, pennies are a little tighter than usual.

As you go to pay you see a man taking away 40% of your stuff.

The reactions ranged from anger to disbelief.

The truth is that this is exactly what is happening to so many South Africans at retirement. 10X Investments, in partnership with beloved comedian Nik Rabinowitz and ad agency M&C Saatchi Abel Cape Town decided to show South Africans how they really should be feeling about the fact that high fees that traditional retirement fund managers charge, are eroding their retirement savings.

“Nik Rabinowitz is a local comedian. We partnered with him to get a very important message across. Nik might be a funny guy, but this is definitely no laughing matter.”

“Our activation certainly did turn heads, but we don’t want people to have 40% of their retirement savings taken from them like Nik took from people’s groceries!”

One lady got her own back though – watch the end of the video to see how Nik ended up with a bit of a raw deal himself.
