The Powerpuff Girls are back and navigating life as 20-somethings after a childhood of crime fighting in a new live-action adaption of the childhood classic.

Global (23 April 2021) – The live-action adaption we didn’t know we needed – The Powerpuff Girls is being adapted into a new series.

A mix of sugar, spice and everything nice, these were the ingredients to create the perfect little girls. That is until a splash of Chemical X is added to the mix. From this, you get the Powerpuff Girls. The trio is made up of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.

The cast of the show are in the middle of filming and this adaption is fast-forwarded to when the trio is in their 20’s. It will look at how they adapt to life as heroes while trying to find themselves and navigate adult life.

Chloe Bennet (Blossom), Dove Cameron (Bubbles), and Yana Perrault (Buttercup) will be staring alongside with former “Scrubs” star, Donald Faison, who plays their creator/father, Professor Utonium.

In case you need a refresher, take a look at the intro video below. Watching it, we were transported back (we won’t say how many years) to our lounge on a Saturday morning with a bowl of cereal, catching up on all our favourite shows.

It is not clear when the show will be released but it will come and it will be marketed to an older audience.

We ask this each time we share an article about a new live-action adaption of a childhood favourite, we always ask; What live-action adaption from your childhood would you like to see?
