NYPD wedding proposal

Dan Mace, a South African born filmmaker living overseas, came home for the ultimate proposal, his video checklist will make your heart swell with love.

Cape Town, South Africa (16 October 2018) – Dan Mace has been living overseas to grow his career as a filmmaker and YouTuber. If his name seems familiar it is because he was the creator behind the 4-minute video about kindness.

Dan has also been a big winner at the Cannes Film festival where he won twice back in 2016, once for a documentary about Mine Sniffing Rats. It was a frenetically edited and succinct film about the explosive-detecting rats of Mozambique which won silver in the Changing the World Frame by Frame category. His second, Gift, an energetic vignette about a brassy youth on the streets of Cape Town, came second in the Short Film category.

His talent for making video content is undeniable so he decided to document the process of asking his best friend’s sister to marry him.

The video has been shared around Facebook as one of the most clever South African proposal videos to date. We got all warm and mushy watching him sweat over asking for permission, setting everything up and surprising her in the most loving way.

The video starts out with how Dan met his love Gabi, who happens to be his best friend’s sister. A lot of effort and time went into making and planning the proposal and video.

Engagement videos are some of our favourite stories to share, who doesn’t love when love wins? Take a watch below, it is quite a story.
