TikTok dancer and high schooler “Jadey” is going viral for her video with her school friend; the video has brought back memories of the Disney movie “The Colour of Friendship” and fans are loving it!

South Africa (14 March 2024) – “jadey_rsa” often shares videos on TikTok of herself and school friends dancing to the latest hit songs. Self-proclaimed as “ur fav mlungu”, she is proudly South African and spends her free time dancing various styles. Her latest video has gone viral for all the right reasons!

Recently, a video of Jadey and her friend Eunice Kabeya went viral on TikTok because it served as a reminder of the Disney movie (from the year 2000) “The Colour of Friendship”.

The movie, which is based on real-life events in the 70s, highlights the friendship of a white South African teen, Mahree Bok and an African American teen, Piper Dellums. They meet during a student exchange programme and set aside prejudices and societal commentary on race, to become best friends. Mahree had come from Apartheid South Africa and when her family finds out she is living with an African American family, things take a turn – but their friendship endures!

The message in the movie, is that with a little time and effort, we can all have understanding of the struggles of inequality and strive towards equality. If you have not seen the movie, it’s a must and can be watched on Disney+.

Jadey’s video has reached over 630,000 views in just 16 hours and continues to inspire conversations about unity, friendship and understanding. Commenters have thanked the pair for uplifting their days and adding smiles to their faces.
