Special school talks focused on caring for dogs and how to avoid being bitten are part of Funda Nenja’s public service offering; in return, children collect food to donate to the organisation.
South Africa (27 July 2022) – One of the best parts of primary school was all the talks, shows and other educational activities that happened regularly. Recently Epworth Primary School Grade Rs, 1s, 2s and 3s got the chance to listen to an educational talk all about dogs and the importance of caring for them properly.
Funda Nenja visited the school to share everything they have learned about caring for dogs. Lisa Button from the organisation visited the school and focused her talk on being safe around dogs and how to avoid being bitten.
These talks by Funda Nenja are essential as they give children the tools to make their own choices about their behaviour towards dogs. Instead of charging schools a fee for doing these important talks, they ask that each child donates a dog food item. It can be any food item so long as it is specifically for dogs.
Eager to learn and make a good impression on the charity, Epworth students honoured the wish for food donations, and it made a huge difference to Funda Nenja’s stockpile.
“We were blown away with the amazing collection of dog food and treats that we received from the children. Hopefully the children all learned something new. Thank you to the parents and children of Epworth Primary School.”
We often share news about Funda Nenja, but it is always about the work being done in the township of Mpophomeni, near Howick. It is so great to see the influence they have on young minds from across KZN!
