The Kiffness song “Pushin’ On” from 2013 was made the title theme song for “Penguin Town” last year, and we nearly missed it!
South Africa (13 May 2022) – Kiffness’s song “Pushin’ On” from 2013 was selected as the title theme song for the Emmy-nominated Penguin Town. The Proudly South African musician shared that he was proud to have done the theme song for the award-nominated series.
Seeing as the show has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the category for “Outstanding Music Direction and Composition”, we, too, are proud! While the award is based on how the show used music with the series, it is still very cool to have one of those songs be a locally produced one.
The Kiffness song features from episode two onwards, once we have met all the penguins in the series.
Proud to have done the theme song for this series ❤️🐧

If you have not seen the show yet, you best get to it! Everyone loves a penguin, they just have the cutest waddles, and their natural instincts are very cute indeed! You also can’t help but feel sorry for these bird-not-birds.
South Africa is blessed to be home to the African Penguin. They are full of character, and while they seem like they live pretty great lives, they also face their share of danger. Simon’s Town is home to a protected colony that lives on a beach famously known as Boulders.
For years, people could swim on the beach alongside the penguins. Since then, this has been discontinued, and now you can only view the colony from the ramps built up over their beach.
Despite being located on these protected beaches, the penguins do get out and about the town. This is where Netflix steps in.
Netflix released the eight-part series about South Africa’s penguins in June of 2021. It is called “Penguin Town”. Take a look at the trailer below; you will even spot a SANCCOB cameo!
Everyone adores the series, and its 6 Daytime Emmy nominations are the exact reason you should add it to your watch list.
