The 67 Blankets for Mandela Day “Rainbow Nation Blanket of Hope” is being revealed live on Facebook and this is how you can catch a glimpse of it.

Steyn City, South Africa (10 May 2022) – The day is almost here for the Rainbow Nation Blanket Of Hope to be revealed to the world. After months of reporting on this exciting event, we cannot wait to see it revealed. It is always inspiring to see how the simple act of knitting a blanket unites so many South Africans.

Every year, the KnitWits of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, get an exciting assignment from founder Carolyn Steyn. The assignment is set for Nelson Mandela Day, which is then used to give back to charity. The KnitWits is an affectionate name given to those involved in supporting the cause by knitting or crocheting blankets and scarves.

The 2022 assignment was a “Rainbow Nation Blanket of Hope”. This year, 67 Blankets is collaborating with Gift of the Givers to honour frontline workers and all those in need. The blankets are bright and vibrant, perfect for adding hope during the winter months.

Thousands of blankets made their way to the 67 Blankets headquarters over the last few months, and now they are being rolled out at the Steyn City School. The large rainbow blanket is made up of donations from thousands of knitters throughout South Africa.
