San Antonio Zoo is bringing back its “cry me a cockroach” campaign to celebrate Valentine’s differently.

Texas, USA (01 February 2023) – You didn’t read that headline wrong. This Valentine’s, you can name a cockroach after anyone you like (or don’t like)… and then have it fed to an animal. Oh, did we mention that there is an upgrade available to send the moment to your not-so-special someone?

The San Antonio Zoo is offering the global phenomenon Valentine’s Day gift again this year. All funds raised will support the zoo’s vision of securing a future for wildlife in Texas and worldwide!

“San Antonio Zoo hosts its Cry Me a Cockroach Fundraiser, where funds raised support the zoo’s vision of securing a future for wildlife in Texas and around the world! This Valentine’s, join in the fun by donating to symbolically name a cockroach, rodent, or veggie after your not-so-special someone!”

As a part of your $5.00 (R87), $10.00 (R174), or $25.00 (R434) donation, YOU will receive: A digital downloadable Valentine’s Day Card showing your support for the Cry Me a Cockroach Fundraiser, or you can opt to send it to that “not-so-special someone” letting them know that they were named after a cockroach, rodent, or veggie and fed to an animal.

An upgrade for $150 (R2,603) includes a personalized video message to the recipient showing their cockroach being devoured by an animal.

“Did your ex-partner, boss, or bestie really make 2022 difficult? Upgrade your donation to our personalized option, and we’ll create an individualized video message of your cockroach, rodent, or veggie being fed to one of our animals for you to send to your not-so-special someone. Let’s keep it PG-13, of course! Remember, this option will sell out fast and is limited to 20 purchases.”
