Ed Sheeran had an unexpected reunion with his “best mate growing up” in Suffolk when they both appeared on a television chat show.
Pop music superstar Ed Sheeran took a break from releasing surprise songs to visit The Graham Norton Show.
Sheeran’s new album, Divide, is due to be released March 3, but he’s already celebrating the success of the first two singles. Sheeran made history by becoming the first solo artist ever to have two songs debut in the Billboard Top 10. It seems as though Sheeran can do just about anything … other than recognize his childhood friend when he sees him.
The Graham Norton Show has a segment in which Norton and the guests talk to an audience member sitting in the “big red chair” via video backstage.
In this case, the audience member wasn’t just from the same city as Sheeran; he had gone to the same school and was actually his childhood best friend!
At first, Ed did not appear to recognise his old school pal, James Mee who was introduced only as James. But once it was revealed that he grew up in Suffolk and attended Brandeston Hall, now called Framlingham College Prep School, he rushed over to Graham’s screen to take a closer look.
“Mee!” he exclaimed.
“He was my best mate growing up.”
