If you take a moment to think back, could you remember what you bought yourself with your very first salary? Twitter users shared their stories.

 

South Africa – A question has been raised on Twitter that has thousands of South Africans answering. The question: What did you do with your first salary?

People that responded have confessed that they went a little overboard and spent it all in one go, others bought sensible items, and some sent money home to their parents to say thank you for providing for them over the years. Some of the responses had us giggling; others moved us deeply.

We can all remember our first job, they rarely paid well, but the money was hard-earned and deserved. I asked our resident Good Things Guy what he did with his; he said he bought himself new shoes. I, on the other hand, was less responsible and paid for a weekend away with friends that cost more than I should have spent.

But, these are the lessons we learn in life and how we get smarter with our money. It is fascinating to see how other’s spent their first salaries. Take a look at some of the answers below.
