A nursing home in the Eastern Cape has gone viral, proving that joy has no age limit as residents dance their hearts out to Kurt Darren’s infectious new hit, “Hop Hop Spinnekop”!

 

Eastern Cape, South Africa (23 December) – South Africa’s music scene is buzzing again, thanks to Kurt Darren’s infectious new Afrikaans hit, “Hop Hop Spinnekop”!

With a career spanning over two decades, Kurt Darren has become a household name thanks to his infectious melodies and feel-good lyrics. Darren has earned numerous accolades for his contributions to music and his performances are always a crowd-pulling affair, whether at local festivals or sold-out concerts. Known for chart-toppers like “Kaptein” and “Loslappie”, Darren has proven his knack for creating songs that get us all moving – and his latest Afrikaans bop is no different!

“Hop Hop Spinnekop” was released in November and is already among the top 30 music videos on YouTube in South Africa. It is currently number 16 on the South African Billboard charts and number 11 on the South African iTunes chart.

The track is fast becoming a dancefloor favourite but it’s not just young people spinning their way to happiness – even an old-age home in the Eastern Cape has been “bitten by the gogga,” and the results are absolutely heartwarming.

In a video that’s taken the internet by storm, nursing home residents are seen pushing wheelchairs aside, using walkers for balance and fully embracing the infectious beat of “Hop Hop Spinnekop“. They’re joined by enthusiastic nursing staff, creating a proper “jol” that’s left viewers grinning from ear to ear.

The video has already racked up over half a million views, with thousands of comments pouring in from inspired South Africans.
