Blood

The Western Cape Blood Services has come up with a way for you to do a little good while being bad; they are giving you the best excuse to get out of doing things.

Western Cape, South Africa – The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) mascot, Blood Buddy, is asking that you do whatever it takes to make a blood donation, even if it means to be a little bad to do a lot of good.

“The WCBS campaign ‘Be Bad to do Good’ was recently launched to draw new and existing donors’ attention to the importance of donating blood using our mischievous mascot, Blood Buddy”, says Michelle Vermeulen, Corporate Public Relations Officer.

The campaign takes the form of a tongue-in-cheek approach to keep blood donation top of mind. The WCBS hopes that it will appeal to regular and new donors alike says, Vermeulen.  She continues by saying the campaign will be rolled out via social media, posters and through radio adverts.

So we had a little brainstorm about all the things you can use donating blood as an excuse for… The office gave a few ideas that made us laugh out loud. One of the guys said he could use it as a way to get out of being dragged to the baby showers of all his wife’s colleagues.

Another said it would make a good excuse for skipping going grocery shopping on a busy payday weekend. We loved some of the ideas being shared. We would love to hear your perfect excuses; let us know in the comment sections.

The point is to actually go and donate blood though so if you use the excuse, make to sure to find your nearest blood bank here.
