woolworths wedding

Photos of a wedding party inside a Woolworths retail store in Cape Town are going viral and everyone is trying to figure out why…

Zanele Zondi shared the photos on her Facebook yesterday and they have since been shared by many users all asking the same question… why?

The reason it seems, is apparently because the couple had been caught in the rain and didn’t want to miss their photo opportunities on their special day.

The wedding party decided that instead of losing the photographer due to bad weather, they would instead use the shopping centre as an urban-chic backdrop to all of their wedding pics.

GoodThingsGuy spoke to the Canal Walk Woolworths store manager who had seen the couple briefly walk in the one door, snapped some photos and walked towards the rest of the shopping centre.

This is not the first time we’ve seen a wedding in a retail store in Africa.

In September, a photograph of a wedding couple who visited a Shoprite Superstore went viral… and the reason behind it was quite beautiful.

The picture of the couple was shared all over social media and shocked users who were surprised at the unusual venue selection for the wedding.

Social media was set alight with assumptions… one user even tweeted that the bride had made a stop at the store to show her wedding party off to a rival.

The truth was far from that… and proof that you can’t always believe what you see on social media.

Shoprite spokesperson, Sarita Van Wyk, explained that the picture was in fact real and was captured at a Shoprite store in Botswana on Sunday‚ September 25.

“The photo depicts members of the wedding party of Onalenna Gaewe‚ a bakery assistant in Shoprite Maun‚ Botswana‚ who was married on Sunday‚ 25 September at a church in town‚” van Wyk said.

“On the request of some of her colleagues who were not able to attend the wedding‚ Onalenna and her bridegroom agreed to pay a quick visit to the store on their way to the reception venue to visit colleagues who couldn’t attend the wedding due to work.”

Massive congratulations to the wedding party and we cannot wait to see how all the shopping centre wedding photos turn out.
