Two of South Africa’s domestic airlines have been voted onto the top 10 list of the most punctual airlines in the world. One of them is number 1 on the list!

The OAG is the leading global provider of digital flight information and provides accurate, timely and actionable information and applications across the travel sector to the world’s airlines, airports, government agencies, aircraft manufacturers, consultancies and travel related companies.

Recently they published their top 10 lists for various achievements and South Africa was featured on their On-Time Performance ratings list.

Two of South Africa’s domestic airlines were listed as punctual with one taking the top rating. Safair was rated the number one and Mango airlines came in at number nine.

All airlines and airports must have a minimum of 600 operations a month* and OAG must receive flight status information for no less than 80% of scheduled flights. Data is required for 12 months.

On-time is defined as departures and arrivals that take place strictly less than 15 minutes after schedule for airports. For airlines ‘on-time’ is defined as arrivals that take place strictly less than 15 minutes after schedule

Safair received a 5 star rating and had 95.94% of the 12366 flights land or take off within the 15 minute window. Mango received a 4 star rating and had 88.43% of the 19331 flights land or take off within the 15 minute window.

Our latest report, ‘From Punctuality To Loyalty’ reveals how on-time performance will inevitably be one criteria by which the outstanding are set apart from the ordinary.

This means that two of our most frequently used domestic airlines are absolutely outstanding in comparison to airlines from across the world. Huge congrats to the airlines involved!
