The Alexandra Trampoline club helps children in the area soar to great heights through community engagement and keeping kids off the streets.

Alexandra, Johannesburg – Hudson Nxumalo coaches children in Alexandra at the trampoline club; he is changing their lives! Kim Ludbrook, a photojournalist for local news agencies, often visits the trampoline club when he is in the area.

He always goes to take photos of the children and teens enjoying the trampolines. As Kim works in the news realm, he often covers the worst sides of places like Alexandra. Whenever he goes to these places, he always looks for the good parts, and that is how he found the trampoline club.

“I have been visiting the Alex Trampoline Club on and off for five years now. Those three trampolines really help children have fun and let go of stresses in an otherwise hard place to be brought up.” – Kim Ludbrook

Often, children from the club earn themselves places on bigger teams. In 2014 six of their gymnasts were selected to represent South Africa at the 2014 Indo Pacific Championships.

This means that not only do the children have a safe place to play, but they also have opportunities that take them out of the township and broadens their horizons!

The club has almost no funding revenues, so they welcome any donations. Should you wish to reach out to find out how to help, you can contact Hudson on 0794525937.

Take a look at the images Kim took on his latest visit to the club.
