Global (28 February 2022) – American Idol, the iconic series that revolutionized the television landscape by pioneering the music competition genre, returned for 2022 last night, and some of the incredible performances are already trending online.

The show has given a platform to artists like Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks to shine, and this year, the singing competition show that started it all and has created countless superstars begins its historic 20th season! Yes, 20 years of American Idol.

And even though the series is not currently on South African television or streaming services, the American Idol YouTube channel is stepping up and bringing us so many highlights!

Initially hesitant to be filmed, Delaney agreed to let her employer, the “momfluencer” Nicki Unplugged, film Delaney as she sang “Part Of Your World” from The Little Mermaid while babysitting Nicki’s daughter. The video took off — 18 million views and counting, and now she’s on American Idol!

Tyler Allen Hides Tragedy Behind His Smile And Beautiful Voice

Tyler walks into the judge’s room, all smiles and confidence. You would never guess the tragedy he and his family recently experienced after an 18 wheeler struck and killed his sister and nephew. His nephew Noah had barely turned one and started walking. Tyler has been his family’s rock. Music has always been his greatest comfort, and he hopes that this experience can help his family move forward. He used to sing this song to his nephew and couldn’t think of a better song for today’s audition.

Aretha Franklin’s Granddaughter Grace Franklin’s Sweet Audition

As a child, Grace travelled a lot with her grandmother… Aretha Franklin! She’s here with her parents Kafi & Kecalf Cunningham. Grace feels like people expect her to sing like Aretha, “but I am my own artist.

Taylor Fagins Sings Poignant Song Dedicated to Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor

Taylor’s original song “We Need More” is about the deaths of Black people like Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. Everyone is moved to tears during his performance on the piano, and Lionel Richie says it’s disgusting that Taylor’s song is relevant in 2022.
