Andrea Bocelli hopes to spread love, hope and healing to his fellow countrymen on Easter Sunday with a live-streamed concert.

Global (09 April 2020) – Born and bred in Italy, the harrowing fight against the Coronavirus in Italy has inspired Italian opera singer, Andrea Bocelli (61), to perform a live-streamed concert. The concert will be taking place this Easter Sunday, and the singer has been granted exclusive access to the Milan cathedral by the Archpriest, Monsignor Gianantonio Borgonovo, and Mayor, Giuseppe Sala.

He will perform the concert with the help of organist, Emanuele Vianelli. The pair will be the only ones in the cathedral during the concert.

It is said Andrea Bocelli will perform some beautiful songs, including Ave Maria and Sancta Maria. Italy is currently on lockdown as well, but due to the nature of the concert, Bocelli has been granted once-off permission.

He hopes the concert will inspire hope, renew love and provide some healing during this time. Easter Sunday is an important day for many people across the globe and being unable to attend church or be with the family will be hard. The concert will hopefully unite all those feeling losses this coming weekend.

“On the day in which we celebrate the trust in a life that triumphs, I’m honored and happy to answer ‘Sì’ to the invitation of the City and the Duomo of Milan. I believe in the strength of praying together; I believe in the Christian Easter, a universal symbol of rebirth that everyone – whether they are believers or not – truly needs right now. Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded Earth’s pulsing heart, this wonderful international forge that is reason for Italian pride. The generous, courageous, proactive Milan and the whole of Italy will be again, and very soon, a winning model, engine of a renaissance that we all hope for. It will be a joy to witness it, in the Duomo, during the Easter celebration which evokes the mystery of birth and rebirth” – Andrea Bocelli

The concert will be streamed live via YouTube. You can find Andrea Bocelli’s channel here. The concert will kick off at 7 pm South African Time or 10 am LA, 1 pm NYC, 6 pm UK and 7 pm CET. If you click through to the event now, it allows you to set a reminder which will alert you on Sunday.
