The Angel Network is raising R2 500 000 to install Angel Villages around South Africa and continue supporting feeding schemes and students in need.

South Africa (19 April 2021) – The Angel Network is in the final stretch of their 48-hour telethon and has reached 70% of their fundraising goal on Charidy.

The organisation has spent the last year feeding millions of South Africans and foreign nationals by supplying food parcels, stocking soup kitchen pantries and supplying funding to smaller organisations working on the ground in the poorest communities in South Africa.

Their continued support through feeding programmes has meant many children were able to eat each day, that men and women had the strength to face each unknown and that those who were sick had the strength to pull through and recover.

The Angel Network not only helps sustain feeding schemes, but they have also continued their efforts to help wherever needed. This includes helping cover expenses for students to attend high school or tertiary educations. The organisation is currently helping 10 students cover the expenses for their education.

A new thing the organisation has done is adopted villages around the country that they are calling Angel Villages. The idea is to provide tools for these villages to become self-sustained and not reliant on poor service delivery. The goal is to ensure each home in the villages has a solar geyser to have warm water. In the main areas of the villages, food gardens are installed for feeding the community, and lastly, that pit toilets are maintained and cleaned.

Pit toilets are cause for concern throughout South Africa; however, when properly maintained and regularly cleaned, they provide the community with a dignified way to go to the bathroom.

The Angel Network has committed to all three of the above and aims to continue to support the causes for the year to come and beyond. To do this, they launched a fundraising campaign to raise over R2 500 000 on Charidy and, to get the funds, had to reach 50% of that before their event, which they have done successfully.

They are now at the 81% mark, having raised R2,028,792 towards the R2.5 million. They have 25 hours to go (at the time of writing), so we are sure with one last push, they can reach their incredible goal!

The Angel Network team will be calling people all over the world to help them reach the goal. We wish them all the very best; this is an essential task.
