Hollywood celeb Antonio Banderas has come to South Africa to work with charities that focus on children and women suffering from HIV and poverty.
Antonio Banderas landed in South Africa on Sunday night. He then appeared at a press conference on Monday morning in Johannesburg. During the press conference, he discussed his love of charity work and why he is in South Africa.
Antonio is also here to promote his new fragrance and a photo exhibition called ‘Women in Gold’. The exhibition showcases women in society.
The Hollywood actor will be visiting Nkosi’s Haven, an NGO focused on holistic care and support for destitute HIV/AIDS infected mothers and their children. The organisation is named in honour of Nkosi Johnson, the young AIDS activist who passed away on International Children’s Day on June 1st, 2001.
Charities that work with children are very close to Antonio’s heart. He has worked with many in his life, including children in Somalia in 1994.
“Anything that has to do with kids… on the verge of injustice. There are many people in the world, especially kids, who live on the frontier of [injustice]. If you can put a little of yourself in there to help that is important,”
