If you love a good emoji, this is the update you have been waiting for! The emojis of 2022 are finally being released and Apple users get the first look.

Global (15 March 2022) – If you are an Apple user, updating your phone today will give you access to the 37 new emojis we shared in September last year. New emojis are always exciting and we cannot wait to see how these get used.

While we still love and thrive on the use of actual words, sometimes emojis can help convey tone or even just make it easier to communicate emotions. Let’s be honest, sometimes tone and emotion are lost in text and we need help.

The Emoji people (Emojipedia) that create new emojis every so often have done well with these new options. Last year they released the draft for the 14.0 update and there were several new hand emojis as well as some fun new images.

The new update will come with 37 new emojis and over 800 new characters. For Apple users, the iOS 15.4 includes the new emojis as well as additional emojis for the Apple keyboard.

The 2023 emojis are already being discussed by Unicode. There are talks of a moose and donkey joining the animals, a shaky/blurred face and even a ginger root and pea pod in the food section.

The Unicode Consortium expects the new code to launch widely on computers and mobile phones, with Apple getting them first. There is no update as to when Android and other operating systems will have the update ready, but we hope it will be soon.

Take a look at the new emojis below. We already know which will be our favourite, how about you?
