Giving is Living is hosting an art auction where all the profits will go towards supporting three animal charities based in Cape Town

Melkbos, Cape Town – ‘Giving Is Living’ is hosting its first big event of 2019. They are hosting an art auction which will aid 3 animal charities.

The auction will feature over 60 local and international artist’s work. The money raised will go towards 3 animal charity organisations, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic, Wolwerivier Outreach Work and SANCCOB.

The theme of this auction will be creating art from trash. They have invited children from the Wolwerivier and Khayelitsha Townships to make art with rubbish they collect within their community. To help the children along, they have set up workshops within the townships to assist the children with this project.

‘This will give the children the opportunity to learn about the importance of keeping their environment clean, whilst getting them interested in art. As well as this, the project will be incentivised. All the children that participate in this project will be rewarded in the form of a prize. The prize will be an experience and not something tangible that has the potential to be sold, preventing the opportunity to use the money for drugs and alcohol.’

In the hopes of getting a large crowd interested in the Art Auction, Giving Is Living have invited local South African artists to join their cause and sponsor some art.

‘We have had an incredible response and have managed to secure donations from artists all over South Africa.’

The auction will be taking place on March 16th 2019 at the Atlantic Beach Country Club, Melkbosstrand. You will find a full list of the artists who have donated works to the auction here. You can find out how to attend the event here.
