Internationally acclaimed artists are joining forces for the upcoming ‘Art for Animals’ exhibition in Sandton where art (including that from the famous Pigcasso) and the chance to make a difference for piggie and paw pals alike are on the cards for all who pop by:
Johannesburg, South Africa (14 May 2024) — Animal and art lovers’ ears can perk up at the news that a unique art exhibition has Gautengers from all over the province ready to lend their attendance for the chance to make a difference for Pigs ‘n’ Paws Rescue. ‘Art for Animals’ is not just a chance to immerse yourself in artworks from several internationally acclaimed artists; it’s equally a change to immerse yourself in a moment where positive change in animal welfare becomes tangible.
The Cause: Pigs ‘n’ Paws
‘Art for Animals’ is dedicated to raising funds for Pigs ‘n’ Paws Rescue based in Cullinan; an animal sanctuary that gives ‘the unwanted’ a place to live as freely as possible thanks to the core team of Nicky Malot, Leslie Giles and Antoinette Steyn, Shelley Drynan and the late Darrel Oliver.
The non-profit sanctuary has taken in pigs from across the country. Some are former pets whose owners discovered they were not easily manageable. Others narrowly escaped being sent of to the abbattoir.
Beyond the piggie pals, the sanctuary also fosters rescue dogs; helping rehabilitate and rehome them.
Onto the Art!
The ‘Art for Animals’ exhibition and fundraiser is set to be a day where art and compassion join forces. Works from Roger Ballen, Angela Banks, Colbert Mashile and even the late Pigcasso will be exhibited, with pieces and art books available, amongst limited edition prints and never-before-seen creations.
Wine, including that from Pigcasso’s vineyard will be on offer, as well as delicious treats.
- Where: Parkmore, Sandton
