Creamy pap with shiba, juicy wors, crispy rashers, a melted braai broodjie and a buttery heap of corn – this Braai Poké Bowl has us drooling!
South Africa (04 April 2025) – Fusion foods are all the rage, blending one cultural cuisine with another is a trendy and delicious way to get the best of both worlds. One such blend recently came to our attention and we are positively drooling! The Braai Poké Bowl.
Poké originated on the Hawaiian Islands and is traditionally raw fish caught by local fishermen, blended with seaweed and nuts. The word “poke” means “to slice or cut into pieces”. Since then the food has been adapted to westernised sushi, which sees sushi ingredients served in a deconstructed manner.
Now… There is Braai Poké!
The team at Lekker Braai Life created a mouth-watering, must-try braai poké bowl. It’s filled with all the braai must-haves, from Pap en Shiba to Steak and Wors. Let’s not forget a good lamb chop and the braai broodjie too!
Lekker Braai Life is all about the braai. They share delicious recipes covering the classics and thinking up new ideas to make the braai the ultimate cooking method. Whether you call it Braai, Shisanyama, Grilling or the not so commonly accepted BBQ (we listen, we don’t judge), there are ideas-a-plenty. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram for more delicious videos.
It’s safe to say that we totally get why Cape Town recently won a global foodie award. South Africans just do food right! And now all we want this weekend is braai! Let’s hope wherever you are, the weather lets you enjoy one too!
