South African cancer fighters and survivors are uniting to bring support and encouragement to each other as well as changes in treatment.
South Africa (17 February 2021) – Young and old, survivor or fighter, NGO Living with Cancer is encouraging people to join their patient-led cancer registry – a first in South Africa.
The registry was launched on the 4th of February, World Cancer Day. The aim of the registry is to give people with the disease the opportunity to connect, support and share their experiences. Living with Cancer is a platform for people who have been diagnosed with any type of cancer and who are at various stages of their journey.
“We launched our campaign which is known as #CountMeIn, encouraging all existing cancer sufferers, patients, and warriors (individuals who have overcome this horrific disease) to be counted and help make a difference to the world of cancer.
The more information we have about the true extent of the cancer statistics in South Africa, the more it will provide insight to the medical community in order to channel efforts and funding to ensure the correct treatment regime is available to all South African cancer patients.
We have a target of signing up 1 million cancer warriors in South Africa”
Having everyone in one place makes it easier for the change-makers of South Africa to get the right companies investing in new treatments and services that can save more lives.
If you or a loved one has cancer or has survived it, you can sign up for the registry here.
