The Cape of Good Hope SPCA celebrates its 150th birthday this month and dedicates it to all the people that have helped them over the years!
South Africa (20 May 2022) – The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is celebrating an incredible milestone in animal welfare. The organisation is turning 150 years old this month. That is an extraordinary birthday indeed!
Established in 1872, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the founding society of the SPCA movement in South Africa and the oldest animal welfare organisation in the country.
The organisation has spent 15 decades advocating and protecting animals throughout the Western Cape; however, they do not claim to have done it alone. The organisation sent out thanks to everyone who has supported them to date.
“As we celebrate 150 years of work for animals, we celebrate you and the incredible people who have stood by our side through decades of saving, protecting, rescuing, advocating, healing and acting for all animals …thank you.”
What do you do when you turn 150? You throw a massive bash, of course! The CoGH SPCA is hosting a Gala dinner in honour of its birthday. The celebration is open to the public; you can learn more about the event and purchase tickets here. Even animal lover, the Kiffness, will be joining in the evening’s festivities.
If you would like to celebrate with a gift, the organisation set up a gift registry on its website where you can purchase all kinds of special gifts. A few examples include the gift of a meal, the gift of a home, the gift of health or the gift of rescue. Each of these gifts and many more benefits animals.
