Several incredible humans are riding the Cape Town Cycle Tour to raise funds for children at the Home of Hope; they each got to meet the children they are helping.

Cape Town, South Africa (01 February 2023) – Several incredible humans will be doing the Cape Town Cycle Tour this year, raising funds to fund the care of children living at the Home of Hope in Table View.

Each rider has been assigned a child who they will ride for and the funds will raised will be allocated to the child’s care. There are eleven riders taking part in the Ride for a Child challenge. The home welcomed the riders with open arms and a few of them even got to meet the children they are raising funds for. That personal connection will be the push needed to complete the cycle tour, which is one of the toughest in South Africa.

Home of Hope is a non-profit organisation that cares for abused and abandoned children in South Africa, especially those suffering from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) – permanent brain damage caused by prenatal exposure to alcohol.

“Ride for a child is a fundraising initiative to raise funds for abandoned, abused and neglected with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum disorder and HIV. The funds raised will be used to care for the children placed in Home of Hope’s care at our children’s home.

Home of Hope believes that every child has a brighter future and with the help of our local community we can achieve this and help the children placed in our care by providing them with their essential needs and ensuring that they have a place of safety and love.  Therefore Home of Hope has taken on the challenge of entering riders in order to raise funds and create a brighter future for every child.”

A total of R100,000 is being raised between the riders, and already they have managed to reach over R25,000. If you would like to support, you can pick your rider on BackaBuddy here.
