For 30 incredible years, Casual Day has brought awareness and raised funds for equity and inclusion for an estimated 3.3 million persons with disabilities. The NCPD recently celebrated this milestone with a fun photo competition which captured the spirit of inclusion.

 

Johannesburg, South Africa (23 January 2025) – The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) successfully concluded its 30th-anniversary Casual Day campaign in 2024, achieving record participation and raising significant awareness for inclusivity.

The “I See You” themed campaign garnered widespread support, with thousands of photos shared on social media showcasing the spirit of inclusion and celebrating the diversity of South African society.

Since its inception in 1994, Casual Day has blossomed into a phenomenally visible movement in the country that brings awareness and raises funds for equity and inclusion for an estimated 3.3 million persons with disabilities in South Africa.

“The phenomenal response to our 30th-anniversary initiative proves unequivocally that South Africans rightly are enthusiastically striving for a society in which each citizen is truly seen,” states Therina Wentzel, NCPD’s National Director.

“Through the thousands of photos shared across social media, we witnessed how the ‘I See You’ message resonated deeply with communities nationwide, bringing our vision of recognition and empowerment to life.”
