South Africa (12 October 2022) – Dr Micki Pistorius’ life’s work is being brought to global screens in a new series called “Catch Me a Killer”. Dr Pistorius is famous for being the first female psychological profiler in the South African Police Service.
After working for the SAPS, she wrote a book called “Catch Me a Killer” that went on to become a best-seller. Now the book is being adapted to the screen and actress Charlotte Hope of “Game of Thrones”, “The Spanish Princess” and “The Nun” fame is playing Micki in the series.
Production on the series started this year and the hope is that the series will be ready for audiences in 2023. Investment for the series has come from Germany’s Night Train Media and South Africa’s M-Net/Showmax. Filming has been done throughout South Africa with the main focus being in Cape Town and Pretoria.
The show is set in the ’90s when Micki took up her role as a psychological profilers for the SAPS. Her task was to uncover South Africa’s most prolific killers.
“It is always a challenge and a privilege to recreate a real life character and Micki is no exception,”
“Micki herself told me that psychologists and actors have very similar psychometric profiles and it is such an honor to dive into the mind of this powerful and trailblazing woman, as she in turn dives into the minds of the many characters that bind this dark and fascinating world together.” – Charlotte Hope
While Charlotte has been filming in South Africa, she has taken a shine to a proudly South African snack… The NikNak.
