South Africa – The late Springbok legend Chester Williams’ last TV interview before his death will be broadcast on Friday 13 September at 17:30 on VIA (DStv channel 147) and Netwerk24’s rugby-focused TV show Groen en goud.

In this interview – filmed only a few days before his death – Williams looks back at his illustrious career on the rugby field and how he became one of the most famous names in Springbok rugby. His wife Maria Williams also speaks about their life together. Netwerk24 rugby journalists Owen Koch and Stephen Nell, Son rugby journalist Adnaan Mohamed and Netwerk24 opinions editor Gert van der Westhuizen also appear in the episode to provide insight into Williams’ life and career.

“Chester’s passing is still so raw and sudden” Izelle Venter, VIA’s channel head says.

“A legend who had an enormous impact on rugby and our country. For VIA and Netwerk24, it is an enormous honour to have been invited into his home mere days before his death. The show is a beautiful testimony to his honesty, his authenticity and his love for his family – we hope it will make his loved ones and our viewers proud.”

Chester Williams’ episode of Groen en goud can be streamed on DStv Now and will be broadcast on VIA during the following timeslots:

  • Friday 13 September at 17:30
