The recent Texas school shooting has rocked the United States of America and the world; to offer a small amount of comfort, dogs have been deployed to the school.
Texas, United States of America (27 May 2022) – The United States have been rocked by yet another horrific school shooting. To offer comfort to all the families that have faced the loss of their children, an organisation has deployed professional comfort dogs to help.
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs is an organisation founded by the Lutheran Church Charities. The organisation has beautiful comfort dogs registered, and they are sent to offer love and comfort during times of great loss and hardship.
There are 130 dogs that operate throughout the United States, helping whenever there is a need. They do not charge for this service.
They are now heading off to Texas to bring love and comfort to the families and victims of the Uvalde school shooting as well as the first responders.
One of the dogs, Nicodemus, shared that the dogs have travelled with their handler to join the group of LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs caring for the community of Uvalde.
“8 LCC Comfort Dogs, at least 16 trained Handlers/Helpers, 3011 combined miles traveled to Uvalde, 46.5 hours travel time for all the teams. That is just the facts to arrive at Uvalde. Most teams will stay and service over multiple days. The teams go straight into the hurt, the anger, the confusion, the questions, the trauma, the exposed grief and pain. Why? Jesus asks them to go, to give out momentary relief, and comfort in the suffering and pain. To let Uvalde know others care.” – Nicodemus, Comfort Dog
This special project helps people cope with the heartbreak and devastation they feel. Projects like this are starting to spread across the world. In times of absolute horror, we should always be reminded to look for the helpers.
In this case, the helpers are a pack of fluffy dogs dedicated to being the biggest comforts.
