A truly warm home starts with something most of us never have to think twice about: a cosy, comfortable bed. Now, many families who were without this comfort will be resting easy thanks to the generosity of others.

Krugersdorp, South Africa (05 March 2026) – Just because a person has a roof over their head does not mean that they have a bed to sleep on. This is according to the Cradle of Hope NPC, which very often receives requests from individuals and families who are in desperate need of a bed.

As the organisation highlights, many destitute people may be fortunate to secure a room only to find themselves sleeping on cold concrete, thin blankets, or cramped pieces of cardboard. Where a front door provides dignity, but sleeping on the floor is a constant, physical reminder of instability.

The month of March is recognised as National Bed Month, which casts light on the need for a bed for a good night’s sleep. For Cradle of Hope, this awareness is especially important for families who can’t meet this simple need and comfort.

The team took a moment to thank its generous sponsors for recognising the reality that so many face in having to choose to put food on the table over resting their head on a comfortable mattress.

Sharing heartwarming images of the many recipients pictured with their new beds, Cradle of Hope is grateful they will now be able to get the sound rest they need to face the world the next day.

“We would like to thank all our donors who donate their second-hand beds to us.
The Cradle of Hope wants to express thanks from all the beneficiaries who have been able to get rid of the cardboard boxes that they have been sleeping on, for a chance to sleep on a bed! Deeply grateful! Thank You!”

Established in 2007, The Cradle of Hope NPC is an independent social upliftment and community development organisation that assists adults and children who find themselves in desperate need, whilst simultaneously filling needs in the community, as they are identified.
