DJ Fresh joined thousands of South African’s in the fourth annual Wings for Life charity race in Pretoria… raising over R100 Million!

The Wings for Life race is run all over the world in aid of helping find a cure for spinal cord injury. The race isn’t only for traditional runners but also for anyone who has had a spinal cord injury as well.

The run was done at exactly the same time across the world, some people ran in the dark, others in the snow! No matter the time zone and weather the starting gun shot off at exactly the same moment.

“A global movement uniting over 155,000 runners (25 organised locations and 86 app run locations) this year, the Wings For Life World Run is the world’s only race that is run simultaneously wherever it is held.”

The full amount of every entry was donated to the Wings for Life non-profit in order to raise funds for finding a cure. The total amount raised was over R 100 million! DJ Fresh was asked to join the race as the ‘catcher car’. If a runner was caught by the car they would have completed their race.

“The Wings for Life World Run pioneered the concept of a ‘moving finish line’. For the first time, celeb DJ Fresh drove the ‘Catcher Car’ that chased down our runners, ending their race as the Catcher Car overtook them.”

DJ Fresh loved the concept of racing after the runners!

“The World Run was more amazing than I expected, and I’m so thankful I was invited to take part,”

“It’s fun eliminating the first runners, but driving with the top 10 who run for hours made me appreciate their discipline and the effort they put into supporting this great cause.”

“I’m definitely back for next year!” says DJ Fresh. “My wife wants to run in 2018, and I will gladly drive behind her.”

The winners of the race did exceptionally well! The South African Women’s winner, Landie Greyling, ran 37.44kms and the winner of the South African men’s race, Renier Grobler, ran 63.07kms. Renier also came in 19th on the global list against the winners from other countries.

The next race will take place on the 6th of May 2018.
