The Drakensberg Boys Choir have performed a traditional Xhosa prayer to inspire hope and unity in South Africa during these trying times.

South Africa (19 July 2021) – One can always count on the Drakensberg Boys Choir to unite us through their music. The choir, spread throughout South Africa during the Level 4 Lockdown, came together to perform a traditional Xhosa Prayer to inspire unity and hope.

We have seen some incredible shows of unity over the last week, and this just brings it all home! Using imagery from the past 10 days of unrest, as well as the communities coming together, the Drakensberg Boys Choir curated a stunning video along with their talented vocalists.

We are in awe of the talent among the young men and love the feeling their song brings. Today we are warmer, despite the winter chill in the air.

“After the devastation wrought upon our country this past week, the Drakensberg Boys Choir sings of hope, unity and in salutation of all those South Africans who these past few days have worked to bring order and restoration to our Rainbow Nation.

We stand as one with our brothers, sisters, elders and community leaders, knowing we will rise from the ashes stronger, more determined and more committed to our ideals as a nation.

“Ndikhokhele Bawo, Ndikhokhele Mmeli wami…ezintsizini zalo Mhlaba”
“Lead me oh dear Father, Lead me my Saviour through the hardships of this World.”
A traditional Xhosa Prayer.”

You can watch the incredible performance below. Prepare for goosebumps and a few tears!
