Elvis Blue

Elvis Blue, season 6 Idols winner tweeted the Springboks a few weeks ago asking to sing the National Anthem, today his dream comes true.

Elvis Blue won Idols season 6 in 2010. He was a firm favourite throughout the competition, winning the hearts of the country with his talented voice. He is a self-taught musician, at age 16 he picked up a guitar and started writing his own music.

In June he tweeted the Springboks telling them that if they ever needed someone to perform the National Anthem, he was the guy for the job. Not only would it be the greatest honour for him to do this, he said he would also travel anywhere in the world at his own expense to do it.

Fast-forward two months and Elvis Blue will be performing the National Anthem in Durban, a dream come true for him and all his loyal fans.

The Springboks will be taking on Argentina at the Kings Park Stadium before heading to Argentina next weekend to do it all over again. Kick off is at 17:05 so be sure to tune in and support South Africa.

Don’t forget to wear your green and gold.
