Overwhelming Demand for Scholarships

In just over four weeks since its launch, the ‘Learning Liberated Scholarships Programme’ has witnessed an incredible response. More than 8,000 families have expressed their keen interest in securing 50% tuition, partial scholarships for Grades 8-11 under the National Senior Certificate (NSC) curriculum for the January 2024 academic year.

Eligibility Criteria for Aspiring Scholars

To be considered for the ‘UCT Online High School Learning Liberated Scholarship Programme,’ applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including:

  • South African citizenship
  • Residency in South Africa
  • At least one guardian being a South African citizen
  • Appropriate age for grades 8-11
  • Intent to complete the CAPS curriculum resulting in the National Senior Certificate (NSC)
  • Demonstrated financial need (household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum or R29,000 per month)
  • A minimum 50% average in English (Home Language) and Mathematics
  • Aspirations for tertiary education and a career after high school
  • Access to stable internet, a laptop or desktop, and a printer
  • A safe learning environment with support from at least one adult supervisor
  • Submission of an “Applicant Reference Letter” and an “Aspirations & Academic Journey Letter”

The ‘UCT Online High School Learning Liberated Scholarship Programme’ is now officially accepting applications, with a closing date of October 31, 2023. All applications will be reviewed for shortlisting by the end of November 2023, and successful recipients will be notified in early December 2023. These deserving scholars will commence their educational journey at UCT Online High School in January 2024.
