Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, first-ever Falcon Heavy launch captivated the world but recently the National Geographic shared a behind the scenes clip of the CEO reacting to the successful launch and it is brilliant!

On the 6th of February, the world collectively held its breathe as history was made. Millions of people tuned in to watch the live stream of the first-ever SpaceX ‘Falcon Heavy’ launch. It was an incredible sight.

An even better clip has been released by the National Geographic, which shows SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, reacting to the successful launch. The reason the reaction was so positive was the fact that launch success wasn’t a guarantee.

Watching the launch from the control centre, Elon exclaimed “Holy flying f–k, that thing took off,”. He and his team then ran from the room to watch the rocket outside. He stood there with his hands on his head in sheer joy and disbelief.

“That’s unreal!” – Elon Musk

The payload for Falcon Heavy’s demonstration mission was Elon Musk’s midnight-cherry Tesla Roadster. The launch was just a test, this means there will be much more testing before humans head off to live on Mars.

“Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two, with the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)–a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel. Falcon Heavy can lift more than twice the payload of the next closest operational vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy, at one-third the cost.”  – SpaceX
