Funda Nenja celebrated the graduating puppy class by sharing a story about a father that has joined his son so they can learn together.
Mpophomeni, South Africa (30 March 2022) – With the first quarter of the year coming to a close, we are so excited to see how Funda Nenja has done so far. They recently shared an update about a father-son duo that will melt your heart!
Funda Nenja, a dog training initiative, runs in the township of Mpophomeni, near Howick, in the KZN Midlands of South Africa. They focus on animal welfare in the area by providing dog training lessons to the children and much-needed vaccinations for their beloved dogs.
These lessons teach the dogs some obedience skills but also help the children bond with their pets to form a deeper connection. The classes help educate children about animal welfare and encourage them to show their families how to treat animals too.
The classes are hosted each week, and as part of the programme, the dogs involved get checked up by the primary veterinary clinic. Any animals not inoculated yet, get it done right there.
The children are also afforded other support, such as proper leads and collars, as well as a decent weekly meal pack for their animals.
The organisation is a shining light in South Africa, and many people love to hear how things are going. The update about the father-son duo is probably our favourite to date!
“At the beginning of March we highlighted the wonderful partnership of a father and young son who together joined our puppy class at the most recent intake of learners. Pleasing progress has been made and today they were promoted to the next level of training when we resume classes next term.
This loving dad has supported his boy and his puppy each week, ensuring that the lessons taught by the class instructor are followed through correctly. This relationship has been so heartwarming to witness and we know that this child and his dog will enjoy a good life together under the protection of this caring man.”
You can see what the organisation gets up to by following them via Facebook here. You can also help by making donations of dog food, treats, toys, leads and collars, blankets and even kennels. They are able to use these items to further their outreach in the community.
