The Lillian Kur Fund makes sure that the elderly don’t feel forgotten and assist some of the poorest in South Africa by uplifting their lives.

The Lillian Kur Fund which also is known as the ‘Lily Fund’, has been working hard to uplift the lives of some of the poorest in SA communities.

There are many destitute elderly in South Africa that have lost their pensions due to fraud or can no longer live off of what they saved due to inflation. Many of these men and women end up in government-funded homes that struggle to make ends meet. It is a sad and scary reality.

Thankfully, there are multiple organisations that exist to help make things better. The Lily Fund helps out in these cases. Over Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, they make an extra effort to give the elderly a lovely reason to smile.

The fund focuses on feeding the elderly, giving them toiletries and making sure the homes have sufficient furniture. This year, the fund will be focussing on the men at the Jordan House Old Aged Home.

We are a humanitarian initiative that strives to bring relief to the country’s less fortunate and aged, irrespective of colour, class or culture. As far as possible, help is granted wherever it is needed.

They are hosting an event at the home on Father’s Day and all they ask is that anyone joining in, brings along some food (fresh and non-perishable), toiletries or a delicious treat for the residents. You can find out about their event, which will be at the home in Roodeport, here.

They focus on feeding the elderly to help keep their strength up. A hungry person lacks the energy to fight illness which in turn requires medical treatment. This is mostly unaffordable for the elderly so keeping them well fed and healthy is the top priority.
