The Aspen Feral Cat team recieved a lovely donation of a fully-loaded cat tea set and accompanying goodies and is hosting a raffle to raise much-needed funds.

Johannesburg, South Africa (05 October 2023) – Raffles are a great way for organisations to raise funds while giving back to the people who support their efforts in making a difference. The Aspen Feral Cat team received a donation that was so cute, they just had to raffle it. It is a cat tea set and it’s the purrfect gift for any cat lover!

The Aspen Feral Cats team have been working hard to support the feral cat colonies in the South of Johannesburg. They feed, spay and neuter and monitor the overall health of the colonies in their care. Most importantly, they show up, day after day, to be a positive presence in the lives of their ferals and give them what love the cats are willing to accept.

It is easier to work with ferals when they realise they can trust humans. Trust is built by regularly feeding them and showing up for them. The main focus of the is Trap−Neuter−Return (TNR). This allows cats to continue to live in the safety of the colony, but stops the spread of disease and unwanted litters.

Many of these colonies can be made up of a mix of both true ferals (meaning the cat was born into the colony) or a lost/stray cat that wandered off or was dumped and found safety within the group. This is why if you ever have a cat go missing, check in with your local feral cat organisation, as they may see new cats within their colonies.

To help support their efforts, the team are hosting a raffle, selling 60 tickets for R20 each, in the hope of raising R1,200 to go towards their financial needs.

The raffle will be taking place at the Jozi South Feral Cats charity shop on the 7th of October 2023 at 12:30pm. For more information, please take a look at the Facebook post here.
