Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me!

Johannesburg, South Africa (04 March 2022) – Mzansi Youth Choir has released a cover of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” today in honour of those impacted by the pandemic, and it is giving us all the feels!

The choir consists of around 50 choristers between the ages of 13 to 24, all from disadvantaged backgrounds but all with outstanding musical ability! The group want to acknowledge the trauma that the world has been through over the past two years.

“The past two years has affected everyone across the globe. Some people are going through tough times because of the pandemic – others are having a rough time in their personal lives. As Mzansi Youth Choir, we really wanted everyone to know that there is always hope at the end of the tunnel – no matter what, you can make it through, dedicating our “Fight Song” to those who have lost hope.”

Moved by Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song”, the choir decided to make their own cover of it, adding a bit of Mzansi flair to the world-famous inspirational anthem.

The singer famously wrote this song when she was at a particularly low point in her life: “I wrote the song when I was going through such a hard time, and I needed to remember to believe in myself”

Not only did Platten start her famous singing career in an acapella choir, but music inspires her, giving her courage when she feels like she can’t keep going – something the entire choir relates to.

“I didn’t intend to write [‘Fight Song’], you know, for the world to hear, to be honest. I wrote it ’cause I needed it. And I wrote it ’cause I needed that reminder, and I needed hope.” said Platten.

“We hope that us sharing this song will inspire those who are struggling, who are going through tough times, to strike their “one match” and show the world they still have fight left within them. They can still “make an explosion”…” – Mzansi Youth Choir
