It is nearly that time of year again when you can ditch formal shoes and wear flip-flops for a day in aid of fighting childhood cancer.

South Africa (19 January 2023) – The annual CHOC Flip Flop Day is just one month away. The FLIP FLOP Day fundraising event is held to raise much-needed funds for the South African non-profit organisation, CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Leading up to Flip Flop Day, the public can buy a sticker for it and should wear their flip-flops for the entire day on 17 February 2023. Work or school shoes get replaced by their summer sandals. For just R10, a sticker purchased from any PNA, Tekkie Town or online here; you can support this initiative to assist teens and children fighting cancer.

“Flip Flop Day is on the horizon, and it’s almost that time again when we flip on our flip-flops and become CHOC SOLE-diers for a worthy cause with the rest of South Africa

On the 17th of February 2023, we will celebrate our 4th annual Flip Flop Day – but we can’t do it without YOU! Join us as we stand together as a nation and set our toes free.

With a donation of just R10, you can get your Flip Flop Day sticker, ditch the serious shoes and take a colourful stand beside us as we make a difference in the lives of children and teenagers battling cancer.”

CHOC provides comprehensive support to children with cancer and their families in South Africa. Offering services such as professional emotional and bereavement counselling to the children and their families; they also offer necessities such as care bags and nutritious food parcels, accommodation, transport to and from treatment centres, as well as educational and awareness programmes on the early warning signs of childhood cancer. At any given time, across all nine provinces, the organisation will have at least 1500 child patients and families under their care.

Last year Flip Flop Day raised over R2 million. The funds raised this year will go towards all the core programmes mentioned above.
