South Africa (31 January 2022) – The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA is celebrating their 3rd annual flip flop day on the 18th of February 2022, so get your toes ready. All you need to do is buy a sticker and slip on your favourite flip flops.

CHOC is a non-profit organisation that advocates for the health and well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders. The passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers of CHOC aim to save lives through early detection and comprehensive support programmes for the families affected by cancer such as; accommodation, transport assistance, psychosocial, emotional, and practical support, and more. They also provide awareness and education on childhood cancer and life-threatening blood disorders.

Two-thirds of children with cancer never reach an oncology centre for treatment in South Africa. The majority of those that present with this dreaded disease are in advanced stages of the illness. But if detected early, most children can be treated successfully. CHOC provides comprehensive support programmes to patients and their families during this difficult time, working nationwide to advocate, educate, and collaborate with stakeholders to save children’s lives.

Flip Flop Day is an annual fundraising event held to raise much-needed funds for the South African non-profit organisation, CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Leading up to Flip Flop Day, the public can buy a sticker for and should wear their flip flops for the entire day on the 18 February 2022 – whether working from home, in the classroom, or at the office. Work and school shoes get replaced by these comfy summer sandals. You can support this initiative to help teens and children fighting cancer for just R10 a sticker purchased from any PNA or Tekkie Town store. You can find out more via their Facebook page here.
