The loving home that has been a dignified haven for elders for decades, the Frederic Place Home for the Aged, is now on the brink of closure, desperately needing a financial miracle to prevent its 85 pensioners from being displaced.

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 November 2025) – Growing old should never mean growing alone. And for over 40 years, the Frederic Place Home for the Aged in Johannesburg has welcomed each elderly resident as family, with love, safety, and belonging in a joyful, inclusive home.

However, the future of this elderly haven is hanging by a thread.

“We care for 85 elderly residents, aged 60 and older, from diverse racial and faith backgrounds. Right now, their dignity and safety are at risk,” shares Michelle Tasker of Frederic Place Home for the Aged.

The Home is facing an immediate financial crisis, and unless emergency support is secured, it may be forced into closure.

“We urgently need R50,000 to cover November, with further shortfalls in December and January until government subsidies arrive at the end of January 2026,” Michelle adds.

The Home provides round-the-clock residential and frail care, nourishment, community and enrichment where all residents are seen, heard, and deeply valued — regardless of background or means.

Keeping Frederic Place Home open is a matter of community reliance and compassion, ensuring 85 grandmothers and grandfathers still have a safe, dignified and comfortable place to enjoy their golden years.

“With your help, we can protect every resident and keep our doors open – turning a moment of fear into a story of hope and unity.”
