The Dog’s Trust is hosting a fun poker night in the hope of raising funds for their work with the community of Diepsloot.

Johannesburg, South Africa (21 September 2022) – The Dogs Trust is hosting a fun Poker Night for Pups this November to raise funds for the work being done and to support the team of guys that work with all the animals they find.

Leanne “Lee” Ramalho started The Dogs Trust to help the dogs of Diepsloot. Her goal was to help feed the dogs within the township and educate pet owners about good animal care.

Lee visits Diepsloot every week with 200kgs of dog food in tow and goes from home to home, feeding the animals. We find the organisation’s name quite poetic because a dog’s trust is a valuable, beautiful thing, but for many dogs coming from abused situations, it takes a long time to rebuild that trust. Lee and her team work tirelessly to earn the dogs’ trust they look after.

The Dogs Trust also employs three guys who drive around and pick up any dogs that are injured or sick. They provide collars, kennels, food, deworming, sterilisation and vaccinations.

The trust is earning a good reputation in Diepsloot; Lee and her team are often called when help is needed. Dogs that have been rescued and placed up for adoption are kenneled in Midrand.

They are hoping to get people involved with fundraising by hosting a Poker Nigh for their pups. The event will be taking place in Greenside, Johannesburg on the 12th of November. There are various ways people can get involved, whether that be by playing, sponsoring a table or just watching the poker players bluff their hands for good. Sponsorships and entries close by the 10th of October 2022.
