Two Gauteng markets have made South Africa very proud after they were ranked in the world’s Top 20 Highest Rated Markets as voted by tourists!
Gauteng, South Africa (04 April 2024) — There are all kinds of reasons we love our favourite markets. Our Sunday favourites. The places we can wander, window-shop stall style, support local, and feel ever so proud of the uniqueness different crafters of all kinds, cook up. But, as it turns out, we aren’t the only ones who love our local markets. And in awesome news for Joburgers and Pretorians, two Gauteng markets have recently ranked in the world’s top favourite markets!
The two Gauteng markets were both voted by tourists as some of the top-rated tourist markets in the world. From Georgia to Poland, the Top 20 list offers a snippet of markets in which travellers from far and wide have given their nods of approval.
This is all according to data from Tripadvisor, which was then distilled into a ranking by another set of data inspectors to narrow down the Top 20 based on five-star reviews.
All the markets fit into the ‘farmers market’ or ‘street and flea market’ niches—something South Africa prides itself on.
The two markets spotlighted are Victoria Yards in Joburg (which we also love for their role in a paint-filled upliftment project for Lorentzville) and Market @ The Sheds in Pretoria!
Victoria Yards earned a 91.9% rating, while Market @ The Sheds scored 87%!
